Talk Like A Pirate Day, September 19th

Avast! have ya heard? International Talk Like A Pirate Day (TLAPD) be on again  September 19. It's th'one 'official' day a year where buccaneers around Australia talk the talk (some even dress-up), gather a crew, and set about runnin' a-muck, pillagin', plunderin' and lootin', all in th'name of raising funds for Childhood Cancer Support (CCS).

Talk Like A Pirate Day is utilised for fund raising in Australia by Brisbane-based charity Childhood Cancer Support Inc (CCS), who provide accommodation, emotional & financial support at no cost to families of children with cancer. CCS receives no direct government funding and relies on the generosity of the community in order to continue providing its diverse range of services and programs for families (please find more info below).

Support and revelry in this fun day comes from Hospitals, Schools, Pubs, Community Groups and Businesses getting involved and having pirate fun days for gold coin donations. The pirate-lover list includes major corporations like Thiess Queensland and The Good Guys (Mt Gravatt & Loganholme) and government agencies like MAritime Safety Queensland through to smaller independently-owned businesses such as Sydney H Turner Retravision in Cairns, Curves Gyms, The Fishmongers Wife and heaps of others!
