Toolbars and widgets

There are two types of reports – Standard and Drilldown.

  • Standard Reports are easy to navigate but are largely uncustomisable.
  • Drilldown Reports are highly customisable, but as a result can be a lot more complicated to navigate.

The following instructions are largely applicable to both, however more detail is available on Drilldown Reports at the bottom of this page.

Timeouts

Minimise the CLASS Main Menu and/or the Filter Menu by clicking the 3 horizontal lines.

Toolbar

Page Navigation

Use the arrows to move to the first page, previous page, next page or last page.

Click the icon that looks like three (3) pages to toggle view to multi page mode, ie scroll through the pages rather than navigate using the arrows.

Zoom

The default (AUTO) view of the report is relatively small as it fits to the optimal size of your screen to view the entire page.

Use the drop down menu to select a preset zoom, e.g. 100% or 150% fits most screens.

You can adjust further by using the  and +icons. This will adjust the zoom by 1%, up or down.

Print

Print all pages, or the current page only, by selecting the printer icons.

This will open your computer/device print system dialogue.

Export & Save

Select the ‘save’ (floppy disk) icon to export the report in multiple formats and save to your computer/device/server etc.  The following formats are available:

File Type

Description

PDF

Portable Document Format, a widely used locked down and compressed image style format, read by acrobat readers and similar. This is a common option for sending to third parties, as unlike an Excel file it ensures it cannot be edited.

XLS

This is readable by older Excel (prior to 2007) programs and readers. This produces a fully editable xls file.

XLSX

This is the more recent of the two Excel type files (see above). Readable for Microsoft Excel 2007 and later.

RTF

Rich Text Format is readable by many programs and platforms.

MHT

MHT is short for MIME HTML, and is a web archive file format. If you actually have a reason to use this then you are possibly a more interesting person than me.

HTML

HTML is a format suitable to insert into web pages.

Text

TEXT file is unformatted text.

CSV

CSV, or Comma Separated Values, is similar to XLSX and readable by programs like Microsoft Excel. It removes most formatting and is useful for importing into other databases.

Image

Image is a picture-like file readable by image readers. This may be useful for inserting into graphic design files.

Find a particular word or phrase in the report by searching by selecting the search (magnifying glass) icon and typing in the search field.

Save As

If you run the same report regularly, you can save a report and the filter selection by selecting the Save As button.

A pop up window will open to add in your own title and description.

Choose a clear title so you can easily distinguish your report from the standard templates.

Add a description for further detail.

Tick the Save Changes box to keep the filter selection the same, or leave it unticked if you want to adjust filters slightly in the future.

The copied report will be added to your reports list.
